Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Toni Gonzalez Collins is a Mexican American journalist. She is the host of SportsNation and serves as a SportsCenter anchor. Since 2016, Collins has was a part of ESPN. She is the daughter of the television reporter Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta is bilingual since the age of nine. Her skill was instrumental in helping her land her first post as a production assistant for Univision Miami in which she worked with the producers of programs including Nuestra Belleza Latina and Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud. Her first job was as a reporter for the CBS St. Petersburg affiliate after that. In 2009, she relocated away from Texas to Rio Grande Valley where she began her news reporting for KNVO TV 48 Univision. Reporting on stories about the issue of immigration and drug trafficking from both sides of Mexico-Texas border, she served as an anchor for newscasts at 5 p.m. Spanish newscast a anchor, reporter and later anchor for anchoring the 9 p.m. newscast, which was in English, and another reporter for the 10 p.m. Spanish newscast. She was also often asked to fill in as an anchor for weather and sports. Deportes 23 was Univision Dallas affiliate and she assumed other duties. She also wrote articles to The NBA, Dallas Cowboys' postseason games, NBA ALDS ALCS World Series or Finals FC Dallas. She produced Univision 23 Accion Deportiva Extra as anchor. She became a sports host for the morning show on Despierta America Deportes. The same role she was employed by Primer Impacto (a network magazine) and Contacto Deportivo (a UniMas Network sports program). Antonietta Collin's parents were originally from Veracruz Mexico. They eventually moved into Mexico City where she was born on November 22 1985. Also, she has an older sibling. In 1992 the family left Mexico for the US and eventually settled in Miami. After a while they separated, and, in 1995 Fabio Fajardo remarried. He passed away from kidney cancer in the year 2006. In the summer of the year 2006, Antonietta took a week with her sister in Canton Ohio. The older Collins girl worked at the time. Antonietta, a high-school senior having a clear idea of where she thought her future would be, visited Mount Union University to see if the school suited her. The campus was a dream for her. They also offered her the major that she desired. Following her graduation from high school, she made the decision to attend the University to pursue a degree with Media Studies. Mark Bergmann, her professor who also managed WRMU's 91.1FM station where she worked over the years, became her friend. It was he who inspired her faith and confidence, as well as whose enthusiasm for Journalism deeply touched her. As a result, she determined to meet his demands, never letting him down.
